Natural forces cause a wave of emotions for me

I saw this video of the tsunami this afternoon and I must confess that I didn't have much to say. I couldn't. I was overwhelmed. The force of the ocean's water rushing on shore and moving unstoppable over buildings, slamming ships together like a child's toys was worse than I imagined before viewing the CNN video.

While the forces of nature are one of the few things humans can't control in this age of technological advances, seeing natural disasters never cease to amaze me. I appreciate the sheer power of nature. From thunderstorms to hurricanes to tornadoes, I am amazed. Not dwelling on the fact of natural forces, no matter what the magnitude, it causes me to stop and reflect. It serves as a time to pause and contemplate.

What is important to me? What do I value? What would I do if I was in the victims' shoes? How can I help?

Maybe you've had the same thoughts.

  1. I know I have. I have never felt so small and insignificant as when nature puts us in our place and reminds us...we are not the boss of her.
